Nutritional Blood Test (NBT)

The Nutritional Blood Test is the foundation of our metabolic approach to treating illness and enhancing health. Co-developed and refined by Dr. Marty during 25 years of clinical practice, the NBT is now computerized. Though like all test results, they are reviewed and further interpreted by our doctors. Smith Ridge Veterinary Center, has performed and interpreted more NBTs than any other veterinary hospital in the country, so you have our years of special knowledge and expertise behind each NBT.

The NBT is a diagnostic tool, based on specialized bloodwork results, that assesses overall health and identifies possible organ weaknesses. The NBT report alerts us to an animal’s systemic imbalances, and then suggests the most effective combination of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids, glandulars and other nutrients for overcoming the animal’s weakened functioning.

If you and your doctor agree that the recommended metabolic intervention is the right treatment for your animal, you can order a NBT powder that is custom-compounded for your animal’s specific needs. The custom-compounded powder, unlike off-the-shelf supplements, contains only the nutrients your animal needs, in the precise dosage needed, without unnecessary ingredients, binders, fillers, coatings, coloring agents or additives. NBT powders are packed in vacuum-sealed, foil bags to prevent oxidation and insure maximum freshness and bioavailability. You simply mix the powder into your animal’s meal per the dosage instructions on each bag.

The NBT process:
  1. The standard blood amount is pulled by our veterinarian
  2. The blood sample is sent to Antech Diagnostic Laboratories
  3. Antech runs the blood and issues a standard report for 35 different blood measurement indices; the same bloodwork results are forwarded from Antech’s computer system to the Nutritional Blood Test computer system at the Animal Nutrition Technologies headquarters
  4. A specialized analysis (the NBT) is run on the bloodwork results and generates a report that details any less-than-optimal functioning organ systems it detects, along with recommendations for correcting the metabolic weaknesses
  5. If you do want to start on a NBT powder, you call our pharmacy order department and place your order
  6. Your animal’s powder will arrive at our offices approximately 7 – 10 days after you place your order. You may pick it up if you live near us, or we can ship it to you.
